Festive treats (for me!)

Although I did decorate the gingerbread house (with some help from my boyfriend) I must confess that this festive treat was not all for me!

As there are so many discounts around right now I thought I'd make the most of them and buy myself some things for Christmas.

First up are these pretty statement stone rings, I've been wanting some for a while and with the temptation of a discount code I just had to buy them from Lily Melrose's jewellery shop www.jwlry.bigcartel.com:

Reduced from £35 to around £15 I managed to buy this t-shirt from The Orphan's Arms on ASOS:

I went a little t-shirt crazy, being a massive Harry Potter fan and seeing Gem wearing the Deathly Hallows logo tee on www.gemsmaquillage.com I had to buy my own from Orange Circle. My wardrobe was lacking in navy items and I thought the colour went well with the cosmic print of the logo so I ended up getting the same t-shirt:

The Topshop sale starts on Christmas Eve and I'm sure there'll be lots of bargains so you can treat yourself after all the hard work getting everything ready for Christmas.

Graze- want a free box of snacks?

I ordered a free Graze box the other day, which contains 4 boxes of healthy snacks that you get by choosing the things you like from a selection of boxes to ensure you get something you'll like. It comes in a package perfectly sized to fit through your letter box too!

Sorry about the Hello Kitty thing, just covering my address. When you open it you also get a handy guide and a personalised booklet about the contents of your box:

In my package I had the boxes: Florentine, Hazelnut Espresso, The Beach and Natural Vanilla Seeds.

I'm not being paid in any way by Graze to promote them, I just thought it was a good idea if people are looking for healthy snacks especially as Christmas is coming and the season of colds is upon us.

If you want to try a box for free, with the ability to cancel your subscription if you don't want another box once you've got the free one, you can use my code: 7G9GPQZD when you visit www.graze.com

Glossybox October 2011 'Six Pack' Review

Another month, another Glossybox. The 6th box had a 6th product but like they say, it's quality not quantity that counts! Here's the October box:

I received some Dermalogica products, a MultiVitamin Thermafoliant (skin polisher), a MultiVitamin Power Recover Masque, a tiny Renewal Lip Complex (balm) and a beauty bag.

While the products will surely be useful, the beauty bag is more practical than stylish and I don't think I'll be using it as It's not quite me.

I also got a selection of Robert Piguet perfume samples:

The (green) perfume called Visa is a little musky but quite sweet, it initially reminded me of a garden center but I'm just weird. The (pink) perfume called Fracas was a bit Grandma-esque but I don't like the smell of lillies. The (red) perfume called Calypso was my favourite, it reminded me of Heat by Beyonce probably because of the amber base.

I also received a couple of beauty products:

I love the design of the Leighton Denny Nail polish bottle. Mine was in the shade 'Babydoll' which was unfortunately quite thick when I applied it and streaky. However, I think it looks okay after a second coat. I can't complain as it is priced at £11 and I had the whole box for £10 plus P&P, but I won't be buying that brand of nail polish in a hurry. (If you want to save 15% off this range of nail polishes enter the code GLOSSYBOX at www.lden.co.uk)

I had a Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof eyeliner in the shade Moray which is a khaki green with a hint of shimmer. It's very similar to the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in the shade Stash but it's a bit darker. I can confirm Glossybox's claim that it does 'glide on delivering intense, vibrant colour with staying power'. My favourite item in the Glossybox, it is a full sized product which would've cost £13! Here's a closer look:

Hope you enjoyed my review, let me know if you subscribe to Glossybox too or if you're thinking about it!

GlossyBox September 2011 ‘5 Future Classics’ Review

I’ve been testing out GlossyBox products since June and the September box came today, earlier than I expected!

Firstly the 1.5 ml Eau de Parfum Plum by Mary Greenwell smelt very ‘mumsy’, not a scent I’d wear as a 20 year old and came in one of those awkward tubes to ensure that once opened, the perfume will be all over your fingers.
It didn’t smell like a plum to me but then again I haven’t sniffed any plums lately, if you want to smell like a plum maybe you’ll love this.

Day Solution by Green People is a daily moisturiser ‘delicately scented with fairly traded Rose Geranium’. It says to apply to your face and neck but the scent of Rose Geranium is about as delicate as an elephant wearing Dr Martens so it’s now my excellent hand cream for the winter months.

There were also a couple of sachets of Rahua Shampoo and Conditioner. Apparently it ‘prevents frizz, adds bounce, body and shine’ but as it claimed to be ideal for colour treated hair I’ll be saving this sample for usage when I next highlight/ dye my hair.

Eye&Brow Palette in 'Vamp'.

I was excited to find a HD Brows Eye&Brow Palette in my GlossyBox, however instead of receiving ‘Bombshell’ for blondes or even ‘Foxy’ for brunettes I got ‘Vamp’ for dark hair… I have blue/ green eyes and medium blonde hair.
Somehow this product hasn’t matched the preferred requirements in my beauty profile I filled out for GlossyBox but I guess you get whatever products they have left over if there’s a high demand.

On the plus side, for the price of £19.95 when I only paid £10 and P&P for the entire contents of my GlossyBox I really can’t complain. The shades are too dark for defining my eyebrows but I have been loving matte brown eye shadows recently and now I have 4 more that last ’24 hours’.

My final and favourite product in this GlossyBox has to be The Green Balm by Moa. I tried this and it’s the most moisturising lip balm I’ve ever used! It is organic and smells very slightly like tea tree oil and my beauty card informs me that it has ‘many weird and wonderful uses’.
