Flame Eye Makeup Tutorial

Recently I went to a Harry Potter themed party and I went dressed as my interpretation of Fawkes the Phoenix in a winged orange dress with flame eye makeup. I couldn't find many ways to create a flame or fire eye makeup look so I just did my own thing!

Products used for eyes: BeautyUK eye shadow collection number 2, Urban Decay glide-on eye pencil in Eldorado, Barry M glitter liquid eyeliner number 7, Barry M Shocking Pink lengthening mascara, Bourjois Liner Feutre felt-tip liner, Bourjois Volume Glamour Max mascara.

Lips: Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti.

Step 1: Use a gold glitter liquid eyeliner to draw flame outlines on the outer corner of your eyes.

Step 2: Line the inner corner of your eyes with a gold eye pencil.

Step 3: Use a yellow eye shadow and apply it to the inner half of your eyelid, top and bottom.

Step 4: Use an orange eye shadow and apply to the outer half of your eyelid, top and bottom.

Step 5: Use your orange eye shadow to fill in the flame shape you created earlier and a pink eye shadow to fill in the tips of the flames.

Step 6: Use a pink mascara on your bottom row of eyelashes.

Step 7: Apply black liquid liner to your upper eyelid.

Step 8: Curl your eyelashes and apply your favourite black mascara.

Step 9: Wear your orange lipstick and PARTY!

Feeling Flamingo

I Want To Be A Flamingo

I Want To Be A Flamingo by lauren290591 featuring high heels

It might seem a bit odd but I'm loving all things flamingo at the moment. I think a quirky flamingo print top would look cute with some pink jeans, which I've been meaning to buy practically forever. Over Summer I'll definitely be channeling my inner flamingo- are you feeling flamourous?

Spring has sprung and the warmer weather is making me feel like my clothes need to be brighter! I'm loving the map print and shades such as lime green and peachy corals at the moment. Hope this gives you a little bit of inspiration.

Candy Inspired Nails

This nail design is really easy to accomplish. Just pick a bright candy colour and add white stripes! In case you need ideas for colours (or don't know what sweets look like...) here are some sweets:

I used Missguided's orange/ coral polish in the shade Misstaken and Avon's Mosaic Effects Top Coat Nail Enamel in White.

Simply paint your nails in your chosen candy shade and once they're dry paint a white crackle polish over the top!

Middle Eastern Trend

Summer seems so far away but I can't wait to feel warm again! I think that all things Middle Eastern will be perfect for the hot weather and will be able to add glamour to your day.

Think dark, mysterious eye makeup, hamsa hands, snakes, eyes and lots of gold. Wear it casually or at night; you can add a patterned scarf and bright Middle Eastern jewellery to brighten up the cold days until summer arrives too.

I've got my gold hamsa hand jewellery ready but what will you be wearing this summer? Let me know if you're planning ahead like me!

Zooey Deschanel inspired nails + makeup

Zooey Deschanel is a style icon and always a little on the quirky side. I'm enjoying her series New Girl at the moment and unless you've been hiding under a rock I'm sure you will have heard about the Golden Globe Awards. Zooey had the cutest tuxedo design on her nails for the awards:

I was inspired by the tuxedo nails and the red carpet glamour and had to paint my nails:

I thought you might like a Zooey inspired eye make up tutorial too so here it is:

Step 1: Use a black liquid eye liner to create a rounded eye shape

Step 2: Soften harsh edges with a black kohl eye liner, cover the lid with a natural eye shadow and add a highlighter to the inner corner of your eye.

Step 3: Curl your eyelashes and add black mascara.

Step 4: Zooey's eyes are always quite bold so apply lots of mascara or add false lashes like Zooey!

If you want to go for the complete Zooey Deschanel look you can curl your hair/ add a pretty bow, and wear blusher with a bright lip in pink or red. Don't forget to use a quirky design on your nails too!

Cute Bow Nail Tutorial

These nails are really easy to do, even if you make a mess (like I did) you can always clean your nails up later so don't worry if you're a nail art beginner!

I used: Gold nail polish, Black nail polish, a Top Coat or Clear nail polish, and a cocktail stick.

1) Paint your nails Gold or any pale/ shimmer shade of polish.

2) Using the cocktail stick in your Black nail polish, add a small line in the center of your nail for the bow's center knot.

3) Leave a small gap and draw a line that's parallel either side of your center line.

4) Draw diagonal lines from the ends of these two lines to create your bow shape.

5) Fill in the outline of your bow shape with your Black or dark polish.

6) When your bow shape is dry, use the other end of your cocktail stick in the Gold nail polish and add the detail creases in the bow by drawing two short lines originating from the center of the bow.

7) To make your design last longer add a top coat of clear nail polish.

You can use nail polish remover to tidy up your nails if things get messy or wait for the polish to dry and come off the surrounding skin naturally. You could also try pale coloured bows on a darker polish!

Cosmic Galaxy Nail Tutorial

Cosmic Galaxy Nails

To achieve this space nail design I used: black nail polish, white nail polish, gold nail polish, peach nail polish, blue nail polish, magenta nail polish, sparkly nail polish, a piece of a sponge, tweezers, and a cocktail stick.

Step 1: Paint your nails black.

Step 2: Holding the piece of sponge with your tweezers put a small amount of white nail polish onto a corner of the sponge. Shape the main body of the galaxy by dabbing the sponge on your nails; try to create a curved line. Don’t use too much nail polish as it will take longer to dry and this design requires several layers of polish on your nails.

Step 3: After a couple of minutes, lightly dab a gold nail polish over the shape of the galaxy on your nails.

Step 4: Choose a side or corner that your galaxy shape has and dab a peach nail polish over the gold nail polish. Don’t dab the peach nail polish further than a third of the way along your galaxy shape.

Step 5: Use a different corner of your sponge and dab a blue nail polish along the sides of your galaxy to refine the shape if it has become messy and to blend it into the black background.

Step 6: Using another corner of your sponge dap a small amount of magenta nail polish in the same corner that you put the peach nail polish to create a faded line of magenta to peach to gold along the shape of your galaxy. You can also use the magenta to furthermore blend the blue nail polish into the black if your magenta nail polish is dark enough.

Step 7: Dip your cocktail stick into a white nail polish and stipple (dot) it sparingly across the black sections that remain on your nails so it looks like stars.

Step 8: Wait a few minutes for your design to dry then paint one or two coats over your nails using a sparkly nail polish to add more stars.

I had most of the nail polishes in sets that were gifts so I don’t know where they came from but some of the other colours I used were: Extravagance by O.P.I Nail Lacquer (magenta), 198 Azure by Rimmel London (blue) and 105 Starry Silver Glitter by NYC (sparkly).

You can create this cosmic galaxy design on your nails using whatever nail polish colours you have. Swap the black for a dark blue, the gold for yellow or the white for silver… go crazy!

Lauren Loves ♥: Glitter and sparkles.
